DAC Arctic Strong Fun Run a Huge Success
North Slope Event draws close to 1,000 participants
Deadhorse, AK – August 13, 2015 – Deadhorse Aviation Center’s 3rd Annual Arctic Strong Fun Run, held July 25, was a huge success drawing a field of nearly 1,000 runners and walkers from the North Slope to participate in separate 5K events. Participants in the 6 AM morning event were treated to a hot breakfast, while participants in the 6 PM evening event were treated to a barbecue dinner. Participants in both events were given an opportunity to tour two Coast Guard helicopters housed in the DAC’s 21,000-square-foot aircraft hangar and take photos with Coast Guard personnel. Every participant received a free Arctic Strong event t-shirt.
“This was a great opportunity to bring the North Slope workforce together for a fun and healthy event,” explained event organizer Hunter Elledge. “A lot of our participants work near each other in neighboring camps, but only have the opportunity to socialize at events like this. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time. It’s a small way for us to give something back to the community that supports our operation.”
